About McBlah

McBlah is the gamer tag of Dave M., a Project Manager in the Developer & Platform Evangelism group at Microsoft. 

The son of a government electrical engineer, Dave discovered computers and video games at a very early age, begging his grandparents for quarters to play Space Invaders outside the Pizza Pizzaz in Juneau, Alaska in the late '70s.  From early coin-op, he moved on to the Atari platform as a grade school student in Oklahoma City and to the NES as a high school band geek in Anchorage, Alaska. 

He received his B.A. in English/Journalism from a small Christian college in southwest Idaho and has long considered returning to school for an advanced degree - just so he can have ties to a university with an actual football team.  While majoring in English, he also minored in music, education, foosball, Addams Family pinball and the Sega Genesis.

After four frustrating years in the publishing, nightclub, coffee and finance industries, Dave and his wife moved from Boise to Seattle in 1998.  Building on his thorough education of saving the princess and destroying aliens, he found a permanent home at Microsoft, where he hopes to work until his stock options are worth something.

This blog was originally launched in 2002 as a book review site, but was shut down after two years - the daily maintenance grew too large.  After a year in hiatus, the site was re-launched in May of 2006 as a technology and gaming blog on the Community Server platform.

Dave is a devoted husband and loving father of two.
