Gamer Andy has apparently received "exclusive word" from "a source" that says Red Octane (recently acquired by Activision) is developing an Xbox 360 version of the ultimate geek rock experience: Guitar Hero.
"If the Guitar Hero franchise comes to the 360, could we be seeing not only downloadable tracks and guitars via the marketplace, but perhaps also online play over XBox Live? Perhaps even "Ultimate Guitar Hero" tourneys?"
Andy makes some great points. It would seem that XBL would be a perfect combination with GH. (Or GH2, as some are claiming the game would be) I take the fantasy a few steps farther, imagining Guitar Hero (lead and rhythm) Bass Hero and Drum Hero. Now, get four geeks from four corners of the world to meet on XBL and rock out together.
Rumors continue to pop up all over the place, including on eurogamer.net, where it was reported:
"...chatter about an Xbox 360 version of the game has intensified, giving further backing to comments made by various figures at publisher RedOctane from earlier this year. Speaking to MCV this February, RedOctane's VP of marketing Dean Ku said: "I think Guitar Hero would be great on other platforms as well as PS2, including the new Xbox 360.""
The idea of the wireless guitar controller doesn't suck either.
When this ships, I will immediately buy the 2-guitar super duper pack, and, with S0ckM0nk3y as my wingman, blaze a trail of artificial glory across the pixilated sky!
Man. I need some breakfast.
